When you come to Job Corps, you don't just participate in finishing your education and learning a trade. You also get to participate in service projects, and other special events that happen during your stay at Job Corps. Here are a few of the special projects going on at the Boxelder Job Corps Center:
- Mobile Fire Kitchen- Our Culinary Arts students prepare and serve meals for fire crew personnel across the Black Hills during the busy fire fighting season
- Community Catering- Our Culinary Arts students also cater large, non-profit community events
- Flood Relief- Boxelder Job Corps students have participated in flood clean-up projects in the Black Hills—including the Hermosa flood in 2007 and most recently the flooded areas in Belle Fourche
- Forest Service Youth Natural Resource Program- This is a collaborative program between Job Corps and the USDA Forest Service that gives our Job Corps youth first-hand experience with Forest Service educational programs.
- Community Blood Drives- Our health occupations students are active in organizing and participating in blood drives that benefit Black Hills area blood banks.
